I can still recall with fondness how special a Saturday morning market visit can be. Meandering from stall to stall, visiting, sampling and bumping along, absorbing the diversity of the bounty with all my senses. Reproducing that experience may be a challenge but it does reflect what we would like to create at the Aberfoyle Farmers’ Market. Our hope is to find as many growers and producers as possible, from right here in Puslinch, to be a part of our new farmers’ market. From the last Saturday in May to the last Saturday in October we would like to be able to showcase the best of what this region has to offer.
We started our search for vendors at the fall fair this past September and were encouraged by the response. Many of our visitors were potential vendors and many more were hungry customers. In chatting with the potential vendors we noticed that many of them had similar questions. For example;
Do I have to be certified organic?
Can I sell my home made pies?
Do I have to come all season?
Our goal is to create a food and farmer focused market that will provide a variety of products and opportunities. So we welcome both Organic and non Organic producers. We also offer a variety of stall sizes and a fee structure that provides an incentive to attend more often. We are also working to provide for the sale of home baked goods so we can enjoy those yummy pies. In addition to the food vendors, we are also looking for a few select arts and crafts vendors. Young Gardeners, 4H Clubs, small-scale growers and producers are also welcome and can share a booth to help cut costs.
This region has a bounty of products to offer, so please consider being part of the Aberfoyle Farmers’ Market and help us bring the bounty to market.
